This teapot is based on a new way of brewing tea and was developed by Tassilo von Grolman back in 1980. It was presented to the Melior company in Paris a year later. It is von Grolman who invented both the idea and the teapot design. In 1987 Bodum marketed a limited edition of this teapot as a Tassilo von Grolman design after buying out Melior. Bodum then changed the design and started marketing the amended teapot as its own house design in 1989.
This original teapot design from Tassilo von Grolman for and commissioned by Mono has been on the market for some 30 years. It revolutionised tea culture, causing a "teavolution". To mark its 25th anniversary, Mono offered this classic teapot along with the well-known stainless steel version as a limited edition in 925 sterling silver. The limited edition teapot is a tasteful investment, with its hand-make ebony handle and its lid with aesthetically integrated sterling silver inserts.
